Pengliang Lu - Recasting the Past Public Lecture

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is presenting a Chinese art exhibition, Recasting the Past: The Art of Chinese Bronzes, 1100-1900, from February 28 to September 28, 2025. The exhibition will feature bronzes, among other art media, from a wide array of international loans and explore issues including antiquarianism, memory, and design. It is a great pleasure for the Art Department to bring the mastermind behind this blockbuster exhibition, Pengliang Lu, the Brooke Russell Astor Curator of Chinese Art at the Met, to the 51¹ÙÍø campus to share his work and expertise with the students, faculty, and the broader 51¹ÙÍø community.

This lecture is made possible by the generous contributions from the Art History area through Friends of the Arts/DACE funding, the BACCA Foundation Visiting Scholar and Artist Program, the History Department, the Matthews Center for Career and Development, Chinese Studies, and East Asian Studies.
