Black Enterprise Magazine: What It Takes to Graduate From College
President Carol Quillen joined Marc Morial, president of the National Urban League, and other education thought leaders last month at the National Higher Education Summit in Washington, D.C. Hosted by the NUL and USA Funds, the summit featured a series of panel discussions on college completion and attainment in light of the results of a Gallup-USA Funds research poll that revealed that black graduates of HBCUs are more likely than black graduates of other institutions to be thriving in a number of areas of their lives.
Quillen appeared on a panel specifically about college attainment, where the panelists discussed the many obstacles that stand in the way of student success, including financial need, academic unpreparedness and coming from a non-college-going culture, as well as potential solutions.
