CNN Hosts Focus Group of Undecided Voters on 51 Campus

With a little over a week to go before Election Day, CNN set up shop on the 51 campus to gauge the reactions of undecided voters from around the Charlotte region following the second and final debate between President Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger, Vice President Joe Biden.

Sitting in socially distanced chairs facing E.H. Little Library, 11 undecided voters, including one 51 student, answered questions from CNN’s Gary Tuchman.

During the debate, the participants registered positive or negative reactions to the candidates’ answers using electronic audience meters. Then Tuchman asked each participant to weigh in on a variety of responses from the candidates to questions about race, the economy and healthcare.

In closing, Tuchman asked to for the final verdict on the debate.

“I want to ask you now, this is what our viewers have been waiting for, and that is this question about who you think won this particular debate,” Tuchman said.

By a show of hands, nine voters thought Biden won, and two thought it was a draw.

Polls indicate North Carolina remains a toss-up, with Biden claiming a narrow lead. The , fueled by immigration and growth in suburbs and coastal regions.
