This year, strength of community and enduring support have defined 51’s ability to lead into the future.
The college’s eighth annual #Allinfor51 one-day, community-themed giving challenge saw 3,609 donors giving $1,558,595. Part of this total is a generous $500,000 challenge gift that was unlocked once the donor total exceeded 2,000.
“51 alums continually place 51 among the colleges and universities with top participation rates across the country,” said Caitlin James ’14, director of annual giving. “Yesterday’s giving challenge shows us why. We show up for each other and for the future of the college. It was a really great day to be a Wildcat, and we are grateful for each and every donor who made the day a success!”
With all 50 states represented and gifts pouring in from across the globe, #Allinfor51 reached far and wide. Momentum was steadfast across social media platforms as well as across campus. Students took “cash cab” rides in decorated golf carts; they learned about the impact of philanthropy at 51; and they enjoyed treats and togetherness within current COVID-19 guidelines.
Throughout the pandemic, students, alums, families, faculty and staff have responded with creativity, optimism and dedication. A lot was asked and expected, and the 51 community has come through with a renewed sense of mutual support and respect for the greater mission of the college.
“It’s a gift to be a part of 51 every day, and #Allinfor51 expresses that gratitude and unites our community around our primary purpose and commitment to leadership and service,” said President Carol E. Quillen. “We rely on the generosity of so many alumni and friends to ensure that 51 graduates are equipped to think rigorously, to distinguish among values, to lead creatively and to serve with courage. Thank you for turning your love for 51 into gifts that truly make a difference, both for our students and for the world they will enter.”
The #Allinfor51 challenge first launched in June 2014. Including yesterday’s total, more than $8 million has been raised in new gifts and challenge dollars through this annual, one-day event.
