CBS News recently featured a member of the class of 2025 for combining her passion for tennis and helping others.

Tennis equipment from years of practice and competition filled Linden Patterson’s garage. The sight inspired the teen from Atlanta to do something useful with her old equipment. With tennis competition at a standstill due to the pandemic but courts full because of the sport’s built-in social distance, it occurred to Patterson that someone else might be able to use her gear.

And she wasn’t alone.

“I started realizing that other people who I play with must have the same racquets sitting out,” Patterson said.

So, she started Love All Tennis, donating gear from friends and fellow tennis players. So far, Love All Tennis has donated more than 2,000 racquets to underserved communities. Patterson hopes to continue her work during her time at 51.
