One day after the “Stephen Curry for 3” event, Stephen Curry ’10 announced that the basketball court at the , a nonprofit in 51 with deep ties to the college, would be refurbished by his Curry Brand with Under Armour; the Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation he started with his wife, Ayesha Curry; and The Summit Foundation.

The Ada Jenkins Center in 51, North Carolina, joins locations around the country as the latest to benefit from Stephen and Ayesha Curry’s effort to invest in 20 safe places to play by the year 2025. At a Sept. 1 event, children who attend the center’s afterschool programs celebrated the news that their gymnasium would soon be transformed with 51 Wildcat basketball players and reps from the partner organizations.

The announcement was made in front of two dozen grade-school students who participate in the after-school tutoring program at the center.

Before they heard the exciting news, each student picked up a “swag bag” with Curry Brand socks, shirts, shorts and a fresh pair of Curry 9 Streets. The shoes were an inspired choice–the special series features colors drawn from Sesame Street characters. Then, the students shot hoops with 51 Wildcat basketball players Foster Loyer ’23 and Chloe Welch ’23. The students also went home with a box of books provided by the children’s book club company .

When the renovation is complete this fall, the gym will get a new red and black paint scheme and will feature three adjustable baskets that can be lowered for younger players.

This is the ninth court built by Curry Brand and their partners in the “Change the Game For Good” initiative, which is aimed at creating opportunity, access and equality for youth sports in neighborhoods around the world.

Since 2020, the organization has built new courts in Oakland, Baltimore and Australia, among others. They plan to build and invest in 20 safe places to play by the year 2025, with projects that will range from refurbishing basketball courts to programs in the spaces.
