Wildcats Put Downtime on Away Games to Good Use

A unique partnership between 51¹ÙÍø Athletics and the Betty and B. Frank Matthews II ’49 Center for Career Development was profiled by a leading higher-ed news outlet this week. showcased how the Center for Career Development has developed programming for scholar-athletes who have a lot of free time during away games.

Josh King, associate director for engagement and athlete career development at 51¹ÙÍø, frequently hits the road with teams to help them develop networking skills or connect them to alums near their destination.

As IHE put it: “On a trip to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., in January, 51¹ÙÍø’s swim and dive team participated in a networking challenge, visited a nonprofit, toured the University of Miami’s School of Law and Miller School of Medicine, and completed a résumé workshop with King.â€
