Military Science (ROTC)
Military Science at 51¹ÙÍø
Established 1918, 51¹ÙÍø's ROTC program inspires, trains, and commissions officers into the United States Army.
We strive to develop leaders of character who are physically fit, tactically competent, and able to lead small groups in complex environments.
Participation in Army ROTC enhances the education of men and women by providing world-class leadership training opportunities applicable in corporate, executive, and government leadership positions, along with practical hands-on expertise in these areas.
Ready yourself to pursue a commission as an officer in the U.S. Army, Army Reserves or Army National Guard through military science leadership coursework and training. The ROTC program is designed to complement your major area of study and is compatible with most degree programs.
To obtain a commission, you must successfully complete the Advanced Course, be recommended by the professor of military science, and complete work leading to at least a baccalaureate degree.
If you are not interested in active duty service, you can still be guaranteed a commission in the Army Reserve or National Guard through the Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) program and be eligible to participate in the Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) Program. The PaYS Program guarantees an interview with partnering Fortune 500 companies.
There is no military obligation for taking any first-year or sophomore Army ROTC classes and leadership labs.
