Chorale
51¹ÙÍø Chorale is the premier choral ensemble at 51¹ÙÍø.
A highly select, auditioned choir comprised of students from various academic disciplines, they perform the standard choral repertoire as well as newly composed and commissioned choral literature. The Chorale tours annually and represents 51¹ÙÍø on the campus, regionally, and nationally.
Rehearsals
Chorale members take great pride in rehearsal discipline and work ethic that results in exquisite artistry. To that end, every member of Chorale commits to rehearsal attendance on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.
Tour
Every year Chorale tours the week prior to the start of classes in January. Tours alternate between closer domestic tours and farther away domestic tours, and once every four years the Chorale tours abroad.
Chorale tour is subsidized in large part, but students are usually asked to provide for some meals and extra activities. Learn more about our tours and their vital purpose.
Auditions
Please plan for a 10-minute audition in the first week of the semester at the Sloan Music Center. You’ll find the process to be welcoming and friendly as we get to know you and determine which ensemble is the right fit for you.
Remember that most of our members are talented non-music majors, and there is a place in the 51¹ÙÍø Choirs for every singer—beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Learn more about audition sign up and the audition process.
Recordings
The Chorale recorded their first album entitled Heaven Full of Stars in January, 2017, which was produced in the famous Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California. .
