Our office is dedicated to assisting international students in their adjustment to U.S. culture and education, to being a resource on immigration matters, to coordinating quality educational and social programming and much more.
51¹ÙÍø’s international community includes dozens of dual/U.S. citizens raised abroad, non-U.S. citizens holding non-immigrant and immigrant visas, and 200 students from more than 50 countries on F-1 student visas supported by 51¹ÙÍø’s International Student Engagement.
New International Students Deciding whether and where to study in the United States is an exciting, challenging and important process. International students who decide to study at 51¹ÙÍø can count on support from International Student Engagement that is provided early and regularly throughout students’ preparation for their arrival in August. International Student Engagement not only helps international students to prepare for and thrive while at 51¹ÙÍø, it helps the whole 51¹ÙÍø community to be one that is aware of and supportive of the needs of international students.
Government Regulations Understanding visa processes, rules and expectations can be intimidating. The International Student Engagement team possesses not only visa expertise but also a steady, reassuring philosophy when it comes to educating and supporting international students throughout the entirety of their experience at 51¹ÙÍø and beyond.
The Host Family Program Everyone needs a caring "home away from home." Through the Host Family Program, American families "adopt" international students to learn from them and to love them as sojourners in our country. International Student Engagement matches local families with international students from around the globe. All international students live on campus or in campus housing.
Through the generosity of the Alvarez family, the Alvarez Access Program reimagines the international student experience by providing funding for curricular and career-related experiences for international students.
