Apostilles
What is an Apostille?
An Apostille is a two-step certification process that ensures that the public documents issued in one signatory country will be recognized as valid in another signatory country. Many countries may require documents to be authenticated in order to be accepted for education and or employment proposes. The two-step process consists of the document being notarized by both 51¹ÙÍø and the State Department in Raleigh.
How do I get my Academic Records (Diploma Translation/Transcript) Authenticated with an Apostille?
Students may apply for multiple copies of their transcript or diploma translation from the Registrar’s Office. (Note: A hand-written signature on the request form is required). We do not keep copies of diplomas. A diploma translation is the legal authentication of the student’s record of graduation translated in English.
Be sure to ask the Registrar’s Office to notarize your transcript and or diploma translation.
After the documents are returned to you from 51¹ÙÍø, you are responsible for having all the signatures authenticated by the State Department in Raleigh, NC.
Mail your document(s) with a (select Authentications from the Within the Department drop down menu, and select Cover Letters from the For drop down menu), the required fee, and self-addressed/stamped return envelope to the U.S Department of State in Raleigh, NC.
