Housing Options and Rates
51¹ÙÍø offers new and current students a variety of living styles that includes 12 traditional residence halls, seven on-campus apartment buildings and themed housing options.
The college typically houses first-year and upper-class students separately to ease new student transition and best respond to the needs of first-year students.
First-year students are assigned a roommate and hall by RLO. First-year students may preference a specific first year roommate in their housing preference form but may not preference a hall. Returning students select housing and roommate(s) through a lottery process that occurs at the beginning of spring semester.

All residence halls include:
- All residential hall rooms have height-adjustable extra-long twin beds (36" x 80"), dressers or built-in drawers, desks with desk chairs, and closets or built-in wardrobes for each resident
- All Martin Court apartments have full-size beds (53" x 75"), dressers, desks with desk chairs and moveable wardrobes
- Central air conditioning and heating (some have individual room controls)
- Cable TV in each room with the exception of apartments which have cable in the common room, not the bedrooms
- Wireless Internet in each room
- Blinds on room windows
- Secure, card-access entry
- Bicycle storage racks outside
- Smoke-free
- Laundry facilities
First-Year Housing
All first-year residents are assigned to a double room hall with a roommate. At times, first-years may be assigned to a triple.
Belk Hall The largest residence hall housing up to 334 students, Belk Hall is a five-floor building in the center of campus, with one elevator. First-years are housed in doubles. Belk has two laundry rooms, multiple lounges, a kitchen and both common and private bathrooms. It also houses the Lavender Lounge and the Quiet Study Space.
Little Hall Little Hall is a four-floor residence hall located on Dorm Row housing up to 70 residents in doubles. Little has large TV lounge spaces on each floor, a common kitchen and a laundry.
Richardson Hall Richardson is a five-floor residence hall with one elevator, located near Vail Commons dining hall and houses up to 129 students in doubles. Each floor in Richardson has a TV lounge plus both common and private bathrooms and a laundry.
Watts Hall Watts is a four-floor residence hall located on Dorm Row housing up to 77 students in doubles. Each floor in Watts has a large TV lounge plus a basement laundry.
Upper-Class Housing
Akers, Irwin, and Knox Halls A set of three nearly identical two-story halls located near Patterson Court. Each building has 2 kitchens, 2 common rooms, and a laundry room.
Belk Hall The largest residence hall housing up to 334 students, Belk Hall is a five-floor building in the center of campus, with one elevator. Returning students are housed in singles, doubles or triples on the 4th floor. It has two laundry rooms, multiple lounges, a kitchen and both common and private bathrooms. It also houses the Lavender Lounge and the Quiet Study Space.
Cannon Hall Cannon Hall is a five-floor residence hall located on Dorm Row housing up to 93 students in doubles. Each floor in Cannon has a large TV lounge and common bathrooms. Cannon community kitchen is housed in the basement of Cannon and features an outside entrance and an outdoor patio area that all on-campus residents have access to, regardless of assignment.
Chidsey Hall 51¹ÙÍø's newest residence hall, Chidsey Hall, is comprised of two nearly identical buildings with an elevator in each building joined by a large entry lounge, kitchen, dining area, common area with fireplace and computer room. Each floor has a large TV lounge with an attached kitchen, common bathrooms and one private bathroom per floor. Chidsey is also home to the Chidsey Fitness Center, a basketball court and an outdoor patio area with picnic tables and a charcoal grill. Chidsey North houses 125 students and Chidsey South houses 139 students.
Duke Hall Duke Hall is a four-floor residence hall located on Dorm Row housing 96 students in single, double, and double-suite rooms, with an elevator. A common kitchen and multiple lounges are located in Duke. Additionally, the Dean Rusk International Studies Program is located on the first floor.
Sentelle Hall Sentelle is a five-floor residence hall located on Dorm Row, housing up to 104 students in doubles. Each floor in Sentelle has a large TV lounge and common bathrooms.
Tomlinson Hall Tomlinson Hall is a four-floor, suite and quad-style residence hall with an elevator housing 128 students as well as the Campus Safety Office, Tomlinson conference room and a campus computer lab. It has a kitchen, laundry and multiple lounges. Each 4 person suite or quad has its own common area(s) and a shared bathroom.
Martin Court Apartments A residential area comprised of seven apartment buildings housing up to 394 students located near the baseball and soccer stadiums. The buildings are: Armfield, Daley, Davis, Flowe, Hart, Jamieson, and Ryburn. Most apartments feature 4 single bedrooms, a kitchen, common area, bathroom and patio/balcony. Armfield features 5 single bedrooms, a kitchen, common area, bathroom and shared patio or balcony. There is a laundry area located in Ryburn and Armfield for apartment resident use.
