51¹ÙÍø offers a number of scholarships to those who have demonstrated extraordinary potential and ability to thrive in, and contribute to, our vigorous living and learning community. Here are some common scholarship questions and answers.
As a small institution, 51¹ÙÍø is fortunate to attract a talented and vibrant applicant pool each year from which we enroll an incoming class of approximately 530 students. Our offer of admission is our greatest recognition of an applicant’s remarkable academic and personal power, and our belief that they will contribute greatly to our community. We are pleased to be able to offer a limited number of scholarship awards to approximately 5% of an incoming class. The scholarship selection process will be completed in March and all winners and alternates will be notified prior to the release of Regular Decision admission decisions.
How many students receive scholarships each year?
Approximately 5% of each enrolling class will be offered a scholarship.
On what basis are they awarded?
Scholarship recipients have the skills that contribute to the vitality of the 51¹ÙÍø experience. They demonstrate outstanding intellectual and personal skills, give evidence of significant engagement in the community, or show talent in myriad areas—the arts, academics, athletics, leadership, and service.
How can I be considered for scholarships at 51¹ÙÍø?
Scholarships are offered primarily on the strength of your application for admission. Some are offered with the additional consideration of a demonstrated interest (Latin) or arts ability (theatre, visual art, music, creative writing). What is the award range of scholarships at 51¹ÙÍø?
Awards range from $2,000 to full cost of attendance.
Are scholarships at 51¹ÙÍø offered for all four years?
All scholarships are renewable for four years, provided grade point average, progress-toward-degree requirements, and any award-specific requirements are met.
What if I win an outside scholarship?
Your outside scholarship will be administered on the basis of the scholarship's specific requirements (i.e. used for specific costs or activities, or for specific years). Financial Aid FAQ has additional information.
